I was one of a lucky dozen American cartoonists invited to celebrate the Fourth of July at the Canadian Embassy. The embassy sits on some prime DC real estate a couple of blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

Bunting's in the air. Our Canadian friends went positively red, white and blue for us. That's the U.S. Capitol just out the window on the right edge.

July 4th barbecue, Canadian-style. The meat on the left is caribou. Yes, caribou. Which by the way, does NOT taste like chicken. In fact, more like a really nice filet mignon.

With a free day for sightseeing Saturday, a couple of my buddies and I took in the monuments. I hadn\'t yet seen the new World War II Memorial on the Mall. Truly impressive, and a fitting tribute to the many vets able to visit that day.

Saturday night's banquet is the big event. This is my convention roommate and all around great guy, Rick Cole, formerly of The Trentonian in New Jersey. I'm fairly certain I out-snored him the whole four days.
